A few weeks ago, I was on a plane destined for Arizona, and we were stuck at the gate for over an hour waiting on a maintenance crew to make some repairs. If only we had known that there was a better way.

I really can't improve on this first line, so I'll give it to you verbatim, "Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday [9/4/2007]." As Jeffrey said in response: "Holy Smoke!"
I'll bet that there were plenty of people on my flight to Arizona that would have gladly sacrificed a small animal from the cargo hold if it would have gotten us in the air faster. My only concern is whether getting in the air is really the primary concern. I tend to think that staying in the air might be a little more important. So I wonder if sacrificing goats to the sky god is really the best option.
It seems to me that if you wanted to get your plane to fly, you'd want to sacrifice an eagle or a condor. You would want to choose some majestic bird so that the sacrifice would imbue your aircraft with swiftness and prowess as it slices through the air. Not a goat. A goat just bounces from crag to crag across the mountains, and surely that's not their hope for this plane.
